Raider Tavern Is Opening in Former Orchard Park Grill Space in Watertown

A couple of years ago, we reported that a decades-old dive bar in Watertown may be closing and/or sold. Now we have learned that a new restaurant and bar is looking to open in that space.

A note from Eat.Live.Blog indicates that the Raider Tavern is opening on Waverley Avenue where the Orchard Park Grill used to be. The note mentions that the new spot will likely be a family-style pub, while a Licensing Board page within the Town of Watertown website says that it will focus more on food than its predecessor had. It appears that the Raider Tavern may be opening sometime over the next month or so.

[July 16 update: A Chowhound poster says that the Raider Tavern has apparently opened, as a sign out front says it is open with its hours listed.]

The Orchard Park Grill first opened in 1950, with the place being known mainly as a neighborhood watering hole.

The address for this new restaurant and bar in Watertown is: Raider Tavern, 208 Waverley Avenue, Watertown, MA, 02472.
